MGM's Technicolor adaptation of the Broadway musical is fast-moving fun; highlights include June Allyson, Nancy Walker and Gloria DeHaven (in their film debuts) singing "The Three B's"; Walker dancing with bandleader Harry James to "Alive & Kicking"; and the finale, "Buckle Up Winsocki."

I should give it a chance.

Odd little 40s musical has some nice moments, and it's fun to see a pre-"Love" Lucy, but it rarely rises above a cute diversion.

Worth seeing. Classic war era feel good musical. It was interesting seeing Lucy sing for real. Had a homely, motherly feel to it.

Typical for the times racist "Indian" references

Enjoyable musical comedy. One of Lucille Balls better performances from the 1940's, and she plays herself!! She demonstrates her flair for comedy, which of course eventually became legendary. Some good musical numbers, a few unmemorable ones as well, but overall it is fun and light wartime entertainment. June Allyson is her usual overly perky self. Virginia Weidler and Nancy Walker offer great support.

Silly fun. Loved seeing Ball, Walker, Dehaven, and Allyson in it. James' music is good as always.

Lucy is chic and funny, Nancy Walker is brassy and June Allyson, in her film debut, radiates charisma and youthful exuberance. Some of the musical numbers are corny but most are very enjoyable and well done.

The entire time I kept thinking it would have been much better if it wasn't a musical, unfortunately. Silly because it was originally never meant to be anything more. Nonetheless, all good music from the bands. ♥ Lucy.

The beginning isn't very good and the end isn't very good, but there are several great songs in the middle of the film. It's nice seeing Lucille Ball out of the Lucy character, but the real reason you see the movie is for Harry James Orchestra and Chill Wills' performance.

Moderately humorous tale that is, as is typical of the era, intercut with song and dance routines. If I knew more of Lucille's movie history I think it would have been more enjoyable.
