Movie Info

Harry Similac (Dirk Benedict) is a music promoter who must scramble to stay out of debt in this slapstick comedy. He hits upon the idea of becoming a wrestling promoter and steals Rick Roberts (Roddy Piper) from his former manager Captain Lou Milano (Lou Albano). He books his rock band Kick at the match and creates a new phenomena that combines wrestling with rock n' roll. Charles Nelson Reilly, Billy Barty, and John Astin provide memorable comedy relief. Cameo appearances by wrestlers Ric Flair, Afa & Sika, Sheik Adnan Al Kaissy, Freddie Blassie, and Bruno Sammartino add further realism to this feature that recalls the rock-and-wrestling spectaculars of the early 1980s.

Audience Reviews for Body Slam

Benedict and Roberts were TV stars, trying desperately to remain relevant. This wouldn't help. They team up with Rowdy Roddy Piper and some really dreadful jokes to create a shockingly awful film. It seems like this was constantly a part of HBO's midday lineup from 1989-1991.

Cheesy, cheesy fun! I am a fan of wrestling so it was a blast to see Roddy Piper and the other wrestlers in this film and they did a good job as there characters - the whole plot is as about as believable as pro wrestling is - a guy who manages rock stars all of a sudden becomes a wrestling manager! Dirk'A-Team'Benedict is Harry Smilac - a fast talking manager who really has nothing going for him until he hooks up with Roddy Piper's character Quick Rick Roberts and his partner. Then wrestling happens - there tagging in and out - flying around the ring and pinning other teams left and right until they get the chance to take on the tag champs and SHOCKER! they win and the movie ends. It is a fun film if you are into wrestling or if you just want to see a wacky cheesy film - great appearances by Charles Nelson Reilly,Billy Barty & John Astin.

A really funny movie, slapstick style comedy and lots of friends in it. Lots of cameos at the end match, very cool.
