Already 12 years old when I was born this movie still packs a moral punch. Obviously quaint and dated yet given it was contemporary at its conception this actually gives it an authenticity which more flashy modern remakes lack.
Blobbo subtracting 1/2 star for dumb moves by genius outer spaceman. Why man leave ship in scary costume when can breathe earth air? Why him open nice "gift" that look like scary gun before say "hello" and taking off halloween suit? Still, movie good for 1951 and score by Bernard Herrmann always add stars to movie.
A masterful achievement in the science fiction genre.
Possibly the earliest and best of all 1950s sci fi films. Unusually sophisticated, everything is well done. The movie only flags slightly towards its ending.
Don't bother with the new one this is the best.
The film tackles so many issue in the short span of only 90 minutes. Acting, scripting and simple sets are on point and I was never dulled. A cult classic from a time gone by.
Speculative fiction at its best. While the effects are decent for its time, it is the story that makes this movie one of the best science fiction movies made.
Back when scifi was about science, including analyses about the social sciences.
one of the first greats....watched it 100 times.
