Audience Reviews for The Fiend

Patrick Magee is the actor Samuel Beckett wrote KRAPPS LAST TAPE for which is a shameful bit of trivia you can chew upon while watching this stinkfest. Unable to make up its mind if it is a psychological expose on the evils of fundamentalism or a scary serial killer movie that exposes the wackadoodle Xianity cult that encourages deadly baptisms - THE FIEND (a/k/a BEWARE MY BRETHREN) makes many many mistakes. Most of which have to do with the strange confessionals of Mommy Birdy who is a closeted insulin junkie. Meanwhile, security guard pool manager sonny Kenneth is jack booted to the knees and playing with tape loops in the cellar. Then there is that whole silly preaching stuff that Magee has to do with a straight face. Meanwhile, the whole congregation of street scum and library periodical room regulars all burst into disco hymns complete with wah wah effects and a funky drummer. The ONLY thing that works in this movie are the clever juxtapositions, of which there are several, each one successful. And for those, I guess, you might want to check this out.
