02/04/2014 Predictable plot with unimaginative twists, but its somewhat watchable for its classy horror feel. Drags on for a bit, picks up for a few places, and there are some nice gore moments though not many. Its worth the price of a cheap flick-set though. See more 09/06/2012 Mill Creek's 50 Movie Pack: Chilling Classics Reviews THE GHOST [1963]: An atmospheric Mystery Horror film starring Gothic Scream Queen Barbara Steele (BLACK SUNDAY [1960]) with an unbelievably generic title. Set in Scotland in the year 1910 where Margret Hitchcock (Steele) & her Lover kill her husband Dr Hitchcock to secure his wealth. Mrs Hitchcock is soon haunted by her late husband's spirit and is driven mad. With decent dubbing, Steele's always iconic presence and a great last minute twist on a seemingly typical Ghost story; THE GHOST is a good & enjoyable horror film. My rating is a solid 60%. Steele doesn't act well but has very expressive eyes. Overly melodramatic in both dialogue and musical score. Not quite recommendable, but not far off. I was bored with this one as well, but I thought it was better than the latter. The ending to the flick was well done I must say as there is sardonic cruelty that illustrates vengeance. I will have to argue that Dominique is Dead, Nightmare Castle, and this one come off as they have stolen the premise of House on Haunted Hill only I was entertained a little more in House on Haunted Hill.
