Dec 31, 2019Classic western about a middle-aged gunfighter trying to go clean. Particularly strong are the scenes between the gunfighter, Gregory Peck, and the town marshal, Millard Mitchell. Both actors command their scenes.Aldo G Super Reviewer

Sep 05, 2019Gregory Peck is typically reliable, stoic and worn out as a gunfighter at the end of his run, clutching at the frayed remnants of his life, and just coming to the realization that it's already too late. Not bad.Kevin M. W Super Reviewer

Jan 07, 2010Good western. Gregory Peck plays notorious gunfighter Jimmy Ringo, who gets challenged by every wannabe at every turn. The Gunfighter has a similar story to High Noon, but without any gunfights and a tense finale, it's a lot less memorable. Overall well worth your consideration if your a fan of Peck or this genre.Jonny C Super Reviewer

Jun 01, 2008probably one of henry kings better films starring gregory peck in an unusual formula western. while a general attempt at showing the downside of being a household name when it comes to gunfighting in the old wild west you also get a few very emotional aspects thrown in. you see jimmy ringo as a family man, a friend and most importantly a forgiving man who just can't get away from the trouble he started in his youthSanity Assassin !
