Entertaining. No one can sing this score like Streisand!

Well Hello, Dolly! It's been a long time since I've seen this musical. It was fun to revisit it. The dialogue is quick and witty, it features remarkable choreography, and the songs are enjoyable. The story is a bit lacking, however, and fairly repetitive. This would have been a stronger movie had it been a little shorter. Still, it's nice to watch this whimsical film every now and then.

Just a mind-numbing, cheesy, fun, movie musical, nothing more, nothing less. My grade: B+

So many looong musical scenes. And, the age difference between the couples?

For all the movie's memorable melodies and dazzling color, its perfectly idiosyncratic supporting performances and acrobatic dancing, DOLLY really lives and dies based on how you feel about the sorely miscast Babs, whose backstage feuding helped make the stories of the production even more intriguing than the story produced.

One of my favorite movies !!! Leaves you feeling uplifted and great after watching it. Just what I believe “Entertainment” was originally meant to do.....

A 20th Century Fox musical money pit that nearly bankrupted the studio in the late 1960s, yet has everything: joyful musical numbers, dance routines, various large and lavish sets, costumes beyond belief, and a selection of movie stars! So as you watch the story of a woman who's got her eye on a husband and a duo of bachelors trying to woo a girlfriend, don't think too much about anything much and just sip that glass of bubbles and have another mini-cupcake.

Gene Kelly's only musical without physical involvement besides mentally visionary as his trademark talented choreography can be visually recognized, as it was self-replicated projected onto others, through his direction as he cinematically adapted this Broadway musical. The translation from stage to screen ranges around advantageous and inconsistent when extravagance is now considered ambition for the genre after its heyday, but fortunately uplifted by few lovingly memorable musical numbers – from unexpected recognition – and Streisand's feministic charming performance taking charge for true faithful romance as part of the fun energy. Genuinely sluggish acceptably with nothing grand to behold as initially expected, though distant from total disappointment with the aforementioned praiseworthy merits making it up for the downfalls that says Kelly could have gone more considerably closer to both the stage play in terms of engagement and collaboration with experienced screenwriter Ernest Lehman to find common, solid ground besides shared passions. (B+)
