Critic Reviews for The Kid From Brooklyn

All Critics (5)

The Kid From Brooklyn keeps stalling the plot to fit in another of the usual Goldwyn musical-comedy elements

Full Review… | December 16, 2013
The Dissolve

Surprisingly pleasing Danny Kaye vehicle.

For Kaye fans only. It has some moments, but Kaye is an acquired taste and here the taste is somewhat sour.

Audience Reviews for The Kid From Brooklyn

½

This remake of Harold Lloyd's The Milky Way is not one of Kaye's best vehicles; an uneven, overlong comedy with intrusive (and unnecessary) production numbers by Vera-Ellen and Virginia Mayo.

Cute, silly very lightweight comic musical with Kaye antic as ever and an amazing array of wonderful supporting actesses. Eve Arden is acerbic and terrifically droll, Vera-Ellen youthful, fresh and she dances like a dream, Fay Bainter all fractured dignity and Virginia Mayo, at the height of her beauty, sweet and charming.
