Amusing movie. Early Tom Cruise. John Stockwell, such a cutie. Navin and Haley bit amusing. 5 stars for the strip club scene with Dr. Dirty John Valby at the piano. He is THE BEST
Unfunny, misogynist, plotless and characterless garbage. Cruise was fortunate that "Risky Business" was released this same year, and that this trash was quickly forgotten.
Losin It is a mess of a film, that does not work at all. Im mystified what they were even aiming for with this film because its not funny at all, its not really sexy at all, its just stupid. Three horny teenagers head to Tijuana to lose their virginity, and they bring along a wife looking to file for divorce and a young boy looking to buy some fireworks. Its a mess of uninteresting and unlikable characters who kind of stumble their way through the film as if theyve never interacted with human beings before. Perhaps the low point is when Jackie Earle Haley is transformed into some kind of nymphomaniac who is obsessed with getting Spanish Fly to roofy women. I hated him so much in this film, and they would not leave his story, instead they kept coming back to it as if he was the protagonist. Meanwhile Tom Cruise is supposed to be the sweeter more innocent kid, which is not a role that worked all that well for him. His scenes with Shelley Long were awkward instead of romantic or whatever they were attempting. The climax is a lackluster car chase that ends with a fizzle instead of a bang. The script was bad, the cast didnt fit their roles, the cinematography was awful, and the music wasnt even the best stuff from that era. I hated Losin It, and Id recommend everyone avoid it unless you are a glutton for punishment or (like me) you want to complete the Tom Cruise filmography.
The plot kinda goes off the rails but there's some laughs.
ok teen sex comedy from the director of 'la confidental"
Silly teen movie, starring Young Tom Cruise, with no wit or humor (except from the scene in the Pharmacy). For Tom's fans only.
Another horrible teen romp film from the 80's! Tom Cruise is useless in this poorly thought out movie. There is an occasional laugh or two, but they are not enough to save the story from disaster.
The whole gambit of a Tijuana experience Spanish fly, popping your cherry, firecrackers, prostitutes, bribing corrupt police Mexican jail with Tom Cruise! yeeeeah!
Three high school friends and one little brother drive south to Tiajuana in this coming of age film set in the early 1960s. Cruise would go on to become a superstar but does not really standout here. Felt like a Porky's cash in, liked that one a bit better.
Group of California high schoolers travel to the brothels of Tijuana in this PORKY's inspired film. Film takes place in the 60s and 80s title theme seems out of place with the film. Beats the low-standards of most of its peers which is largely due to a good cast.
