It is the closest the sound film has come to recapturing the genius of the silent movie chase comedy.
Because Simon is dealing with a place -- and a commonplace -- rather than people, it is only too easy to see the jokes coming long before they arrive.
Pained and occasionally hilarious fun.
Jack Lemmon, Sandy Dennis, and a gritty New York City make this worth watching.
A grumpy, occasionally funny Neil Simon film.
Exasperating--should be called 'Down-n-Outers.'
Even with the normally loveable Jack Lemmon as its star and a script from Neil Simon, it's a dreary bore.
I actuallly like the remake of this one better but it has moments.
