Movie Info

Writer Zenna Henderson's science-fiction stories were the basis for this made-for-TV movie. A young teacher goes to a remote area to work with secluded and backwards inhabitants. She accidentally discovers, though, that the residents are actually aliens with psychic-powers who escaped their own now-destroyed planet and are hiding here on Earth, hoping to blend in.

Even with all but two of the characters wearing anachronistic costumes, there's a scummy '70s pall over everything the camera touches.

Audience Reviews for The People

The movie was very "interesting". I watched the entire movie on a stationary bike at home. The only reason I forced myself watching the whole movie was because I couldn't access to the TV remote control to turn it off. If you have nothing better to do other than exercising on a bike, I would recommend this movie.

This comes so close to knocking Casablanca and Fog of War out of my Top 2, it isn't even funny. So here's what you get. 74 awe-inspiring minutes of watching paint dry. Brilliant short stories turned into so much made-for-tv tripe. But, it is a made-for-tv movie (a Tuesday Movie of the Week, in fact) from 1972. And Francis Ford Coppola had something to do with it. But it is awful. Glorious, deliriously so. Get a copy and share with friends before there's a run on it or something. For my part, I'm waiting patiently for a special edition box set. Just to give you a little flava of the film, here's my special tribute photo gallery: Shout out: To Flixster for posting this movie at my request. Thank you for being part of the solution.
