"The worst you'll have is some of those kids from the dance running wild. Just remember, there's still some people around here who won't put up with that kind of thing." A WW2 veteran stalks and creeps in post-war America after he learnt his ladyfriend cheated on him while he was fighting overseas. The state police are on his tail, but never catch him, so he lays low for a few decades. He returns to do some more creeping and killing at a high school graduation dance 35 years later, donned in his WW2 gear. Decent suspense, though sometimes too sombre of a mood which makes it feel slow and plodding. The gore was less frequent than other contemporary slashers, but well-done practical effects. There are better films of this sort.

Not a horror movie so much as a porno for people with a filler fetish.

Very average and typical slasher movie. But Tom Savini definitely saved the film with his fantastic makeup effects.

The Prowler is a intense violent slasher horror film with very amazing special effects by veteran make-up effects by Tom Savini.

Although the film is definitely an extremely basic slasher, it has enough of a guilty pleasure charm, and downright incredibly practical effects to keep you entertained.

1.5/5. A really boring slasher film that has some incredible kills, but nothing else going for it.

Lame killer film with no scares.

This film has a very simple concept that could have been played successfully, yet the filmmakers found a way to make the movie a miserable ride. Every scene feels two minutes too long. I question if these choices were made, simply so there would be a feature length running time. Grade: D

In the movie's lame attempt to build suspense it moves much too slowly and the all too few kills don't make up for the long wait. Boring is the worst crime a film can commit and The Prowler is very guilty of it.

The atmosphere really works when the killer is in the scene, makes it extra creepy and chilling. Well done.
