Critic Reviews for September
One of Woody Allen's weakest, most static films, inspired by Ingmar Bergman's serious dramas on the one hand and by Lana Turner's scandalous life on the other.
Some of our best actors turn dreary on us in this creaky, overly self-analytical drama.
Audience Reviews for September
Slow moving and all takes place in one location, but very well acted and a good drama about relationships within a family. One of Woody Allen's better movies.
There are a few great moments, and Mia Farrow's performance is amazing but the film never really brings it home. Allen was trying to make a "modern Chekov" story, and while he gets a lot of those elements right, the film just doesn't have the same soul as Chekov's plays did.
Probably one of my least favorite of the Woody Allen movies.
