Movie Info

The biblical tale of Moses' liberation of the Israelites is paralleled with the contemporary story of two sons of a religious family and their divergent paths in life. Cecil B. DeMille's first rendering of this story, which he redid in 1956, is in many ways more entertaining.more

This is light years better than the Heston version. The effects hold up better (parting of the read sea is awesome!), the acting is better and it's about an hour shorter.

DeMille's trademark sensibility aside, the two sections illustrate what the director gave up in his transformation into epic moviemaker.

Audience Reviews for The Ten Commandments

This movie is extremely long, so I only saw the first half, but I want to rent it again and see the second half. The special effects are spectacular, the story is brilliant, realistic, and historic, I loved this movie, it's better than the 50s remake.

This has got to be the most over played film on TV in the world. It's okay, but it certainly feels like I'm at a play, not a movie.
