Kind of interesting and atmospheric, but ultimately, it kept losing my interest. My mind kept wandering the whole movie, to the point I had to rewind it three times, and I still don't fully understand what was going on. That's not a good sign... The awful creature effects didn't help its cause.
no se entiende muy bien el propósito del demonio al matar a los curas.
Little-Known Horror Gem, Which Features Priests & Demons & No Demonic Possessions. Which Gives This Film A Watch Factor As Most Big Demonic Films Are Exorcism Related. This Features A Demon Known As The Unholy Who Between Good Friday & Easter Sunday Will Attack Both Priests And Virgins. A Young Priest (Ben Cross) Is Assigned To A Church By Archbishop Mosley (Hal Holbrook), But The Last Two Priests Were Mysteriously Killed By The Demon. A Well Made Film With Almost An Original Plot That's Worth Watching For A Difference In Story.
Boring, slow, poppycock religious nonsense. Nothing makes much sense, the characters are bland, and I could barely pay attention. Overall uninteresting and dimwitted shlock.
Quite a creepy sort of movie, but the main character is totally unbelievable: A priest who smokes and doesn't believe in the devil?? How did he become a priest in the first place let alone be put in charge of his own parish?
The Unholy is a stylish and eerie little horror gem. While the plot can be convoluted and the film can have some unintentionally funny moments, for the most part it does manage to be a solid serious horror film that is quite underrated. If you enjoy horror films with religious elements to their plots, this is one worth checking out.
I really still have no idea what this movie really was about.
It had a really good cast, including Ned Beatty and Hal Holbrook, but Ben Cross is the great lead here as the Priest struggling with what is going on around him.
The woman are pretty sexy too. Jill Carroll is the virginal girl being haunted by a demon. She actually begs the Priest to deflower her at one point. Ha! But Nicole Fortier is the stunner of this film. Man, what a body and she is so sexy...but also looks like such a demon, which she is, so she's got that naughty & nice aspect.
There isn't much going on until the final ten minutes or so when that sexy woman shows her demon form, and little midget demons arrive too.
It's all weird, but it's watchable.
Father Michael is called upon by the church to battle a powerful demon, The Unholy, which takes on many shapes in order to lure the righteous into damnation. Will the priest be able to resist temptation when The Unholy takes the form of a beautiful seductress? Camilo Vila's religious thriller is all guts and no glory, a cheesy display of bargain basement effects that lacks a compelling plot. Ben Cross stars as the sanctimonious Father Michael with strength and determination, never allowing the silliness of the creature or ineptness of the script to wear on his performance. What it lacks in substance, it makes up for in gore, however, with enough gut-ripping and throat-slashing to maintain a thread of interest. And hey, Nicole Fortier ain't bad to look at, either. Vila does attempt to inject a bit of mood and atmosphere in Father Michael's final confrontation with the beast, but it is too little, too late after a far greater struggle with pacing. 80's Horror fans can lump this together with THE UNNAMABLE, THE RESURRECTED, and THE INCUBUS for a cheesy movie night from Hell!
the basic premise of the fine is scary....powerhouse cast.....great jazz music....however the cow like demon is a downer.....but her human form are what naughty dreams are made of.... quote from the knowledgeable and astute Travis Kreider....cracker cow totally agrees.....it is one of cracker's all time favorites....
I Love This Movie!!!
