See more 05/27/2005 [B]Danny Boyle has always made great films, but always dark, gritty R-Rated films (Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) now he puts in his most impressive film to date, rated PG. The film seems to be set up as a family one, but most of the plot is more adult oriented even though it centers on children, but easily children and adults alike will enjoy this. It is a quirky, yet poignat comedy/family drama. All the actors involved are not know stateside, but do an excellent job. Most surprising are the young child actors. When I saw the trailer (I was already eagerly awaiting this movie) I thought that the young kid playing the lead character Damian would be too cutesy and possibly wreck my enjoyment of the film, I was wrong, he was very impressive. John Murphy (28 Days Later) adds in a great, but not over-powering score, this is not the film you'd expect from Danny Boyle, but an unexpected surprise of this nature is always nice.
