"I'm absolutely famished, i've had nothing today but a partridge and some miserable scones." this is how Ustinov started the film, a hilarious start to the Elaborate, beautiful and engaging film that was hollywood at its golden age. Perhaps this is also ustinov's finest performance in telling his relationship with brummel and how they fell apart then later reconciled. Great sets, acting, direction, music and costumes. Granger was great. Liz taylor was satisfactory, but her accent distracted. I enjoyed the use of the wales plumes insignia throughout the movie.

Fancy, plush drama which hews a bit closer to actual history than most historical films of the time. Beautiful costumes, Elizabeth is ravishing and the cast includes an astounishingly young Rosemary Harris. Granger is fine in the lead but the best performance comes from Peter Ustinov.

It's okay up until the uninspired final act.

Nice story of the 19th Century figure but it lacks zest for the cinema. The script is nice, but it's written more to suit Stewart Granger's romantic on-screen persona than as a strong feature.

Elizabeth Taylor looks stunning but it is the supporting cast that brings this movie to life especially Peter Ustinov, Robert Morley and Rosemary Harris (the grandmother in Spiderman!)

A real 50s period costume drama... Peter Ustinov as the Prince Regent is fab, and Robert Morley as mad King George III is a real cameo treat. Costumes are brilliant and its a shame its not available on DVD.
