Remarkable man's death is mourned by dozens of past lovers. It seems he possessed an extraordinary capacity to love women although most of his time is spent on psychotherapist's couch recounting these past relationships. Not sure what the overall point is; like most of Blake Edwards' films, time has not been overly kind.

This Blake Edwards film can't be described as Burt's most demanding role as a man who details his obsession with women to his female psychiatrist. Limp story makes you wish Burt stuck with the action films as Reynolds' character is mostly pathetic. Not quite sure if this would fall into the comedy or drama genre, never a good sign.

Weak remake, unimaginatively filmed.

skip his weak remake and catch Truffaut's 1977 comedy of the same name.

Directed by Blake Edwards, who had come off both critical plaudits for Victor/Victoria (1982), but also critical backlash and lawsuits for Trail of the Pink Panther (1982) and Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), picked himself back up with a new deal at Columbia Pictures and this remake of François Truffaut's 1977 French film of the same name. Some parts work, but most of it doesn't. David Fowler (Burt Reynolds) is a sculptor who has been having affairs with more than one woman, but this has left David artistically and sexually impotent. He tells all this to his attractive yet frigid psychiatrist Marianna (Julie Andrews), who is our narrator. He's had an affair with Texan heiress Louise (Kim Basinger), and they have sex in public places. There's also Agnes (Marilu Henner), whose legs David fell in love with first. But David soon finds himself falling in love with Marianna, who is resistant to his charms, but she soon falls for him. It should have been perfect comic material for Blake Edwards, who had tackled this sort of thing in 10 (1979), but it feels a bit forced and stale, and it's incredible dated, as this film was made before AIDS became news.

This started out halfway decent but devolved into a bit of a silly mess.

I love Blake's sense of homour and those little details which fullfill characters and situations:) It's once again the story about middle age man in some sort of loosing his way... Julie is bad for analist, but still she's great in her own way:)

Burt acts okay, but the very site of him makes me uneasy. Julie Andrews did a fine job as did Jennifer Edwards. Kim Basinger`s character is so annoying it makes my head hurt. LOL

Funny, but not as funny as Starting Over, The End, or Semi-Tough

In a world of sucky remakes, special effects, and non original films sometimes you just wanna go back a watch a regular classic movie. this is my pick. I went through a phase in my life similar to Burt Reynolds character but not as servere.

Burt Reynolds - enough said!

Burt and Blake Edwards.

This really is a great film and not your usual burt classic, he is perfectly cast as a failing ladies man, very touching and funny.

Again a lost classic.
