Critic Reviews for Crash Dive
The romantic subplot of this WWII melodrama, Tyrone Power's last film before going to war, is weak, but the action sequences (in color) are good.
typical WWII drama, a rousing propaganda tool.
Both the romance and the war scenes lacked any sense of reality, though everything was well-crafted.
Audience Reviews for Crash Dive
another WWII pic made during WWII my faves they had a certain urgency to them since they didn't know the outcome of the war.
a decent wwii film about the lives and loves of two submarine officers. andrews and power make for a good match of give and take in the romance department and give a good accounting of themselves when the call to action demands. my favorite scene is of them seated in the officers' mess after a long, arduous tour and having a field day ordering and consuming mass quantities of the fresh milk, butter and vegatables. while not a blockbuster by any means, it is pretty darn good entertainment.
This war/action/romance film is a notch or two above average, mostly due to it's exceptional production values. Suspenseful, and the romance aspect fits into the story much better than most war films. Anne Baxter is a delight and gives a sincere performance. Entertaining on many different levels.
