Emma has all the misplaced seriousness of a documentary on genital warts.

Emma is an exquisite recreation of early 19th century country life. Seeing one scene after another is like looking in on historical rooms recreated in a museum.

Emma is a faithful adaptation of Austen's most cherished novel and unlike Clueless...the audience has more than a passing interest in the characters here. It has an emotional stake in the outcome.
