Movie Info

Taking a feminist perspective, this romantic drama explores issues of modern sexuality. Poor Stella James feels herself adrift amidst the goal-driven hub-bub of Manhattan. With no family wealth to support her and apparently no career, she spends aimless days leaning on her monied but troubled ex-lover Teo who finally gives her a gentle shove by handing her a plane ticket to Los Angeles. Still without goals, she manages to get a job as a chef. The restaurant owner George Babbington takes a shine to her, and she to him, but this does not stop her from wafting through several meaningless relationships while wrestling with notions of female vs. male sexual behavior.

Audience Reviews for Men

A dumb, nearly plotless throwback to the independent cinema of the '60s and '70s, when filmmakers regularly made narcissistic, self-indulgent films about poorly conceived characters looking for, you know, America and/or themselves, or something, Men flirts for a while with at least one genuinely trangressive idea: that it's alright for a woman to be as sexually assertive as a man.
