Movie Info

Mark Twain's classic novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is re-created here as an animated adventure movie. Featuring a country music soundtrack with songs by Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings and Lee Ann Womack, the video is also accented with famous voices, like those of Don Knotts and Betty White. The characters have all been resurrected as animals; Tom and Becky are cats, Huck is a fox, and Injun Joe (more sensitively corrected to be "Injurin' Joe" in this production) is a bear. The animation is excellent, though the plot itself is a looser interpretation of Twain's story. Children aged five to 12 should enjoy the story and lively animation while getting a basic introduction to a classic piece of literature.

Audience Reviews for Tom Sawyer

I had a friend who worked at a Children's home and at times he had to watch the same movie once every now and then, and this was one of them. Man oh man do I feel sorry for him. This movie isn't terrble. But it's not even decent. It's inbetween those two.

I am usually not one that is big on country music, but the songs were okay, but I liked the movie more. I felt that it was an interesting version of Tom Sawyer, but I enjoyed it.

Wrote a reveiw for Tom Sawyer: "A wonderful movie providing a fun and light-hearted version of Mark Twain's classic tale. With a sound-track better than most of today's movies, it is one you can't help watching over and over regardless of your age. And as if all that were not enough, the voice cast is star-studded with country musicians who bring the story alive."
