The worst thing someone could say about "Big Trouble" is that it's too much like "Get Shorty," which is one of the best reasons to go see the film

Director Barry Sonnenfeld unites an incredibly unique and charismatic ensemble cast for this witty adaptation of Dave Barry's 1998 novel.

...a highly enjoyable romp that is as multi-faceted as it is tightly constructed.

Tim Allen is great in his role but never hogs the scenes from his fellow cast, as there are plenty of laughs and good lines for everyone in this comedy.

Jason Lee looks almost beatific as the shaggy, homeless Puggy. This movie is just as hilarious as Dave Barry's quirky book.

brisk and hyperactive. Some scenes move so quickly, it looks like Sonnenfeld forced the cast to consume large amounts of espresso between each take.

...there's a lot of fun, idiotic stuff, plenty of action, one-liners, and bloated buffoonery. And some great goat stunt work.

Though it can't match Sonnenfeld's best work, Big Trouble is more than up to the task before it.

Definitely just a trifle of a film, but so many light entertainments should be so brisk, witty, and well-performed.
