Peter Pan

Critics Consensus

Solid if far from definitive, this version of Peter Pan is visually impressive, psychologically complex and faithful to its original source.

Movie Info

In stifling Edwardian London, Wendy Darling mesmerizes her brothers every night with bedtime tales of swordplay, swashbuckling and the fearsome Captain Hook. But the children become the heroes of an even greater story, when Peter Pan flies into their nursery one night and leads them over moonlit rooftops through a galaxy of stars and to the lush jungles of Neverland. Wendy and her brothers join Peter and the Lost Boys in an exhilarating life--free of grown-up rules--while also facing the inevitable showdown with Hook and his bloodthirsty pirates.

A fairly good adaptation of a classic. But really, the best thing about this film is Barrie's masterpiece itself.

This is a different version than I am used to, but I liked it. I may be forced to read the book to determine what really happened. I have not quite figured out the significance of Wendy creating Captain Hook in the image of her father.

Without the green costume that Peter noramlly wears, we have a more savage like costume. The film stayed true to the story and brought along some great acting. Captain Hook was absolutely marvellous in this film, the young star Jeremy Sumpter was really into his role; special effects were great. The ending was a bit Bleh, but everything seemed to worked well, was quite funny too.

Certainly not the greatest graphics. Awkward filming. Decent acting. Incredibly cute. Yeah, I'd have my kids watch this if I had them!
