good historical drama based upon actual events
An outstanding family film. Elizabeth Wakefield is eager for the Queen's visit to her small New Zealand town. As the Queen's visit draws closer, history and pride in the town collide and Elizabeth's loyalties to her family and friends are tested. This is such a brilliant story. The screenplay was well written and the cinematography was beautiful.
Nice film for young teens. Very sweet...
Family film from New Zealand told from the perspective of a young teen. She's persistent and has lots of heart. A bit sappy but the messages of racial tolerance, truth overcoming falsehoods, and the importance of friendship are positive and worth watching.
A slow movie but it was a good story... kinda touching!
Good story, good values... Hmmm... What else? Oh yes! The girl who played the young elizebeth did a great job but her teeth just bugged me! They were SO crooked and yellow!
Cute, but missed the mark on authenticity
A sweet touching story about a New Zealand girl who has always wanted to meet Queen Elizabeth and writes and asks her to come visit her town. One day she finds out that the Queen is coming, but her friendship with an outcast Aboriginal could prevent her from meeting the queen.
Ended up watching this film on my own...
Sincere and heartfelt, but it's just a bit too earnest for its own good..
