Step Brothers (2008)
Critic Consensus: The relentless immaturity of the humor is not a total handicap for this film, which features the consistently well-matched talents of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.

Critic Reviews for Step Brothers
On its own terms, Step Brothers is hilarious. But it's a shame that the filmmakers didn't have more faith in the audience. Why resort to gross-out tactics when your premise is strong enough to allow for a more sophisticated approach?
Despite some obvious flaws, 'Step Brothers' remains a hugely enjoyable, well-constructed slice of lowbrow Saturday night entertainment, leaving Ferrell's position as the reigning king of US comedy secure for a while longer.
Don't watch it on an airplane, don't check it out on cable, don't walk past the bargain basement bin where it's been sold.
Brideshead Revisited, it turns out, deserves a revisit.
Audience Reviews for Step Brothers
With so much that is quite retarded here, this is actually a hilarious Apatowian comedy that works so well thanks to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, who have a great onscreen chemistry together and can be really charismatic playing two clueless idiots.
Step Brothers present a silly humor, but the talents of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly with an interesting story, become a high point to McKay's movie.
After recently re-watching "Step Brothers," I have to admit, it has lost some it's charm that made it's dumber humour enjoyable the first time around. I loved this movie when it came out in theatres back in 2010, but quite honestly, it is just not one of those films that will have a lasting effect for years to come. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are a great pairing for brothers, and they play off each other very well, but by the end of the movie they actually began annoying me. For years I thought this movie was great, but it's jokes only hit half of the time and everyone seems to be over-acting. It is odd, because I definitely felt differently about this movie before. "Step Brothers" mixes clever humour with downright juvenile humour and sometimes it doesn't work. But the clever humour and all the improve is great, so I still was able to enjoy most of the movie.
