Movie Info

A vengeful sheriff sets out to capture the escaped convict who murdered his wife and son in this gunpowder stained western starring Luke Perry and C. Thomas Howell. When his family was killed, Sheriff Matt Austin swore that he would take violent revenge on the man responsible for that woeful misdeed. But when Sheriff Austin discovers that the very same villain has been hired by a wealthy land baron to steal some valuable land from a terrified widow and her young son, he realizes that he must act quickly before any more lives are lost. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Audience Reviews for A Gunfighter's Pledge

150528: 2, maximum. Ok, 2.5. This is a lower budget, made for TV movie. As I appreciated the Goodnight series of films, Luke Perry is the highlight for me. Perry has been fairly consistent in his westerns and, if you've seen him before, you know what to expect. He seems to always do a decent job as a gunfighter/cowboy. Kim Coates comes in as a distant second. As Tig, from Sons of Anarchy, I've always hated him. Here, in Pledge, his character Tate is equally moral-less. As an actor, I have to assume less pay equal less effort. Casting Thomas Howell as the land barron Horn was plainly a mistake. He's unconvincing as the leader of a pack of wolves, and much like Tate, I'd could see myself taking him out, and taking over. Weak film, and at times painful, though not a total loss.
