Its not an original idea but it does have some twists that actually make you pay attention. It is at the very least worth a watch if your a fan of zombie or outbreak movies.
A rip off of a much better spanish movie.
Quarantine is very creepy...
As a standalone horror movie its pretty good. As a comparison to [rec] its terrible. The atmosphere is ok but [rec] seemed much more claustrophobic and haunting. The actors in [rec] did a better job of selling the premise and the urgency. The overall concept and the plot are both still great hence the 3* rating here.
Cringe not scary at all and I’ll forget about this in 2 days.
Just like the events in the film, the loss of control sealed its fate. The atmosphere is agreeably effective to put in a freakish aura for alarming thrills and hyper momentum, but the cinematography is probably one of the worst from the pacing of unnecessary stalling and being too shaky as an annoying reflection of the hysteric performances that denies any sympathy - which is before the found footage genre's improvement. REC for the illiterate
Quarantine is a good zombie movie and an example of how to make a film on a limited budget and with limited locations. The entire film takes place in a derelict high rise and the point of view is that of a news reporter. This is a unique idea since we only see what the main character sees. The scares are more of a shock type but it is well executed. This is the template more independent horror feature films should take. Quarantine is a classic example of a well made scary film. (Genuinely shocking horror film from Spain).
This is a watchable horror flick with good performances and the right tone. I could do without discussion of the REC series. It's like saying "the book was better". This film is this film and stands on its own just fine, regardless of influence and sources.
Here be major spoiler....
Docked a point (or half a star) for killing the dog. NOT ok! ??
