It seems more like an hour-and-a-half-long infomercial for America than a narrative film or documentary. Like something you might hallucinate on Flag Day.

Contrived, corny and over-simplistic.

Aspires to be inspirational, but suffers from its shameless, jackhammer-style manipulation.

A corporate-sponsored, feature-length infomercial on behalf of the core entrepreneurial values of the U.S. of A., Proud American combines unabashed hokiness with relentless oversimplification.

A shameless, soulless tribute to all things schmaltzy in the American character and a thinly disguised advertisement for corporate deregulation.

This weird tribute to the American spirit throws together a handful of real-life, Reader's Digest-style stories to celebrate qualities we like to think of as quintessentially American.

You can be all for religious tolerance, up-by-the-bootstraps enterprise and love of country and still be turned off by Proud American.

Unashamedly sentimental, with nary a big star to its name, "Proud American" is an uplifting documentary about hard work and choosing the right path.
