A former Los Angeles cop must recue the girl he was hired to protect after she is kidnapped by a gang of ruthless mobsters. Rolland Sallinger (Steven Seagal) was a good cop, a trait his corrupt former partner viewed as his Achilles Heel. Forced into early retirement following a bitter betrayal, Sallinger goes to work as a freelance bodyguard. Subsequently hired to safeguard his gorgeous daughter of an influential businessman, the tough protector must fight his way up through the underworld after his charge is abducted and held prisoner by the most feared syndicate in the city. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Audience Reviews for The Keeper

I wasn't expecting much, considering some of Seagal's more recent output. However, I was surprised. The plot manages to move along at a nice pace and doesn't really ever get bogged down. Some things I liked were that the fight scenes were well edited and showed more. Unlike previous outings where all it showed was a leg or a fist hitting a baddie where this time around you actually saw Seagal or Seagal's hairpiece doing the action. Now this isn't Shakespeare. It most deffinately has it's downsides. Most of the supporting roles weren't well casted, and certainly not well-acted. has just enough action and one-liners to satisfy fans, and better production values than most of his other direct to video projects. It's by far perfect but it puts Seagal back in the right direction.

Entertaining in its way; I kept debating with myself whether the acting or the script was worse. Okay, bad timing. I just saw a Woody Allen., but that's personal preference. I didn't even think this stood up well next to other Steven Seagal pictures. So, in my opinion, avoid it.

I appreciate this movie for three reasons. The first, it's Seagal. The second is that it it actually tried to be like his older flicks. Did it succeed, no, but it tried which made be happy. Finally, is that there was some decent action. Nothing great, but it was enjoyable.
