A colorful action film about the Battle Of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. in which the Spartans defend themselves for a Persian invasion against overwhelming odds. King Leodinas (Richard Egan) rallies the locals to stop the attack of thousands of plundering Persian invaders led by evil King Xerxes (David Farrar). Sir Ralph Richardson as Themistocles of Athens leads the international cast this the spectacular cinematic conflict that has more emphasis on action rather than historical accuracy. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

An original film that forsook historical accuracy in favour of cinematography, The 300 Spartans was beautiful epic about the Battle Of Thermopylae. The pace was a bit slow but understandable.

Pretty good story and for its year it wasn't half bad, The action wasn't great and the acting was pretty poor, But I enjoyed it as much as I could.

Never mind the slight slow points and somewhat repetitive battle scenes. This is an original, interesting and entertaining story with very strong characters, fairly good production and directing and surprisinly impressive action sequences. It is a truly underrated and entertaining classic.

It inspired Frank Miller to write and draw "300". That's the only nice thing I can say about this long, dull, pretentious, plodding, and dated epic.
