BEING A HUGE XMAS STORY FAN I THOUGHT I WOULD HATE THIS BUT I TRY TO HAVE MY KIDS WATCH THE ORIGINAL BUT THEY CAN NOT RELATE BUT WHEN WE WATCHED THIS THEY LOVED IT AND I WAS ABLE TO ENJOY THIS STORY WITH MY KIDS FOR THE FIRST TIME.. IT IS REALLY REALLY HARD TO RECREATE A MOVIE LIKE THIS THAT IS SO CLASSIC, AND I LOVE HOW THEY UPDATED IT WITH THE JEWISH BIT IT WAS SO GREAT !!! MATHEW IS GREAT AS NARRATOR ... WE REALLY ENJOYED IT HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL
I loved it!! It was entertaining! Also the Little explaining they did! I watched it again and again!
Matthew Broderick was charming. I'm one of the few people who don't like the original movie; the music makes this story better for me.
I am really disappointed by the critics and twitterverse for dogging this show. I'm not a Broadway dude but I thought this was a great Christmas present so much so I grabbed the soundtrack and m keeping it on the DVR until they sell it. The kids were amazing the performances by Mya and Ralphie were awesome and Jane Kricinski I think who played Shields blew me away...... Even FERRIS BUELLER did great. This will be our new version of this Christmas tradition and we will skip TNT Marathon
I was a bit excited to see this live. Fankly 15 minutes into the show I could not watch it. Kind of disgusted by to much singing and by the character that played the mom
Awful from the totally unrelated song and performance during the opening credits through the end; this adaptation of the stage production managed to take all of the charm and warmth out of the originals.
Misses the spirit and the point.
The music is unremarkable.
You'll find yourself hoping Ralphie shoots his eye out.
Easily the worst thing I've ever seen. If that's what Broadway's "Golden Boys" produced, what I saw on my TV screen was enough to never go to Broadway again. F. half a star. No encore. El horrible.
I was really looking forward to seeing this musical adaptation of the classic movie. However, much of it was dreary, and overly long. The PC police added at least an extra unnecessary half hour to the whole shebang. Hard to believe that Maya Rudolph and Ms Krakowski, both of whom I love, were part of this joyless enterprise. The only plus is that it employed a lot of people.
Despite the strong cast and moments of fun and wit. This was dragged down by generic and overly long songs. Overall it was just so boring and felt like it was going on forever.
