There is no great epiphany; just a series of tedious, repetitive depictions of Bella yearning for family.

An odd mix of warm family film, bleak drama and public service broadcast. (Even my pet-loving 7 year old, presumably its target audience, declared it "too sad".)

A little subtlety would have worked wonders for A Dog's Way Home. Unfortunately, it is all bark and no bite.

It would've been nice had this irresistibly charming puppy been taught a new bag of tricks.

A Dog's Way Home is weird because on one hand it fits the genre to a T, but on the other it's one ridiculous scene after another where absolutely nothing makes sense.

The film manages to be emotive, but it has a weak script, cast and aesthetic. [Full Review in Spanish]

Who is this for? Not the kid next to me squirming impatiently as Bella nearly dies of dehydration.

"A Dog's Way Home" is a joyless jaunt that offers an adorable canine star and not much else.

This franchise should follow its own advice: Find a purpose, a way home, or show yourself the doggy door.

Cameron's tale grossly oversimplifies complex issues... to the point that it reduces much of the film's social justice message to meme-ready, empty-headed pap.

Director Charles Martin Smith plows through the darker material at a relentlessly cheerful kids'-movie clip, for an incongruous marriage of tone and subject matter that's honestly a bit unsettling.

Dog lovers and kids might be able to look past "A Dog's Way Home's" various shortcomings, but altogether, this is just a decent idea that could have used some more work.

A Dog's Way Home is a fine family-friendly adventure about man's best friend, hitting the same emotional chords as (better) movies that came before.

There is a game Bella and Lucas play called "Go Home" to avoid being impounded by authorities; it's a game I wanted to play around 20 minutes into the film

It's ruff to sit and stay through A Dog's Way Home, and anyone who can do so without walking out deserves a treat.

When the story lags, these are the flaws that pester, and even the cute factor of "A Dog's Way Home" can't obscure its narrative weaknesses.

Sentimental but joyless -- for very young children only.

While this type of fare is so old-fashioned it should be heritage-listed, it rarely fails to draw the full emotional involvement of any viewer predisposed to pooches.
