See more Joel H @RT47793553 Apr 9 Disney released three animated features in theaters in 1995: Toy Story, Pocahontas, and A Goofy Movie. And A Goofy Movie is definitely the underdog of those three. But there is something enduring about this story. When I was younger, I identified more with Max. Now, as a parent, I identify more with Goofy. But either way, this is a fun family film with humor and heart. It also has some amazing songs. I would definitely attend a Powerline concert if he existed in real life. So yes, this cartoon is a little, if you’ll pardon the pun, goofy at times, but I’m always up for a trip with A Goofy Movie. See more Tabs W @tabsers Mar 19 A Goofy Movie is my favorite film. It is so much more than just a GOOFY movie. It gives him something he’s never really had before: a deeper purpose in the form of a son...and not just any son, but one who doesn’t want to be anything like him. I don’t think there’s a more honest depiction of a single father and his teenage son. What’s incredible is how grounded all of this feels, even in a world where Bigfoot exists and they end up dancing on stage with Powerline. The writing is great, especially in the quieter moments. And then there’s the soundtrack, which I genuinely think is one of the best in Disney history. I’ve seen the making-of, watched panels, chatted with Goofy’s voice actor several times, revisited this movie countless times--and I still notice something new every watch and get emotional every time. It’s funny and weird, but at its core it’s deeply human. It’s about misunderstanding each other, growing up, and finding your way back. And for me, it will always feel personal.
