Very well executed cinematography, but the story feels a bit clumsy.
Tsk, tsk.. grinte kun en gang..
A good one.
I like its soundtrack.
Maybe no other film by T.Vinterberg will be so great as Festen, but this one is really return home, back from those bizarre american films. Genre mix about growing up and rewriting one´s part and present with adorable hero.
Not particularly funny or engaging, most of the time rather labored. The best parts are the attempts at Italian-ness and the beautifully shot and manipulated Danish countryside. From a visual point of view, I'm glad to say that this is the antithesis of Festen.
En hverken eller film....Bliver aldrig rigtig sjov og heller ikke rigtig dramatisk. Skuespillet fejler dog ikke noget
Veldig kult å møte skuespilleren som spilte faren etter at vi så filem, men den var ikke helt min smak.
There have developed a special danish genre of comedy/drama-movies, and even though this movie is a good example of one, you feel like you have seen it all before.
The concept is almost similar to "Festen", but this one has flawed scenes where the original hits the spot all the way. Ronja Mannov Olesen who plays Maria can't cope with her role, and that is a shame. Aside of that, the movie is enjoyable and Thomas Bo Larsen is phenomenal as always. Some of the best scenes is with him and his son!
