Movie Info

The award-winning LGBT director Marco Berger - an Argentine who made an international impression with his 2009 feature Plan B - returns with this equally bold and daring follow-up. Martin is only 16, but voraciously sexual, and his erotic attentions are fixed on Sebastian - his thirtysomething swimming instructor who is engaged to be married to a woman. The crafty Martin schemes to get closer to Sebastian by faking an injury, then tricks the older man into spending the night at his apartment. When Sebastian realizes what Martin has in mind, he initially resists the teenager's advances, but in time, curiosity gets the best of him and reciprocal feelings begin to stir - tainted by doubt, uncertainty, fear and regret.

Audience Reviews for Absent (Ausente)

½

Though with elegant shots and camera movements, this flawed film depends on a deceptive score stressing all the time what the viewer should feel. Besides, the main twist is weak and leads to a cheap narrative trick in the end that is artificial and naive.
