Movie Info

Just how far back in history was dog man's best friend? In this animated short subject from writer and director Minkyu Lee, a dog is exploring the newly created planet Earth when he happens upon a strange creature that walks upright on two legs -- Adam, the first human being. So how do these two animals get along during their first meeting in the Garden of Eden? Adam and Dog won the 2012 Annie Award for best animated short subject, and was nominated in the same category for a 2013 Academy Award. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Lee's animation is magnificent, with strokes of color and landscapes that make this world feel dream-like and utterly enormous.

Audience Reviews for Adam and Dog

Oscar nominated animated short. I thought this one was even more beautiful than Paperman. It was not apparent from the beginning that the Adam in the title was the Biblical one and I was a little nervous what the message would be when that was made clear. However, the Dog is the central figure of the story. The dog's point of view is remarkable. The art work is absolutely magnificent at portraying all hours of the day in a primordial paradise. We follow this somewhat mangy dog through its everyday life. Eventually it meets and befriends a man. Life is better with a friend, but Adam sadly finds someone he'd rather spend time with, a woman. Will the dog find his lost best friend again? This film may surprise people with the emotions it is able to draw out of such a simple and well executed story.
