Does a brilliant job capturing that specific moment in time when you're clinging to just a little bit more fun before succumbing to adulthood, without realizing you maybe already have.

The premise of Adult Life Skills isn't remarkable or ground-breaking, but its execution is near impeccable and the result is a film that is quietly poignant, quirkily endearing, and humorous without seeming to try too hard.

Heartbreaking, hilarious and altogether refreshing comedy.

British comedies tend to get dark in a way that mainstream American comedies rarely do, and while Adult Life Skills occasionally feints in that direction, it retains a core of sweetness, and it's whimsical without also being twee.

Sweet but less oddball than it thinks.

Whittaker is easily the best thing about the movie. When the script fails in its attempts to flesh out Anna's character, Whittaker comes to the rescue. She can be funny, profane, dour, and heartbreaking. Oh, and quirky.

But, in the end, Whittaker's and Myers' performances won me over and made up for the difficulty deciphering the thick English accents employed by Tunnard for her characters.

The film takes on a sometimes clichéd narrative with refreshing frankness, producing a minor but charming comedy that deals with the problems of grief and finally growing up.

Surrounded by a solid supporting cast and making the most of a few memorable lines, Whittaker's skills help lift what would otherwise be just a solid, unspectacular drama.

"Funny and touching. . .(Whittaker) is bereft over death of her twin. . . Sprightly screenplay. . . it is not a Prince Charming, but women in her life who unite to revive her. "

Anna shares DNA with the men-children of the Apatow oeuvre and yet Adult Life Skills is a unique specimen.

Employs an engaging, if sometimes strained blend of quirky comedy and mawkish melodrama to explore the emotional state of a 29-year-old striving to reconcile the loss of a beloved twin brother with the need to get on with her own life.
