It's an impressive feature debut for Rachel Tunnard who has directed, written and edited this expansion of her award-nominated short film Emotional Fusebox, made with the same actors.

Quirky dramedy explores loss, family, moving forward.

Adult Life Skills is a wobbly but winsome film about pain and the friends who pull us through kicking and screaming.

Familiar for its focus on a young person finding their way and still mostly enjoyable though too quirky for its own good, Adult Life Skills is neither a hit nor a miss.

Adult Life Skills is a poignant examination of a young woman whose growth has been stunted by grief, carried by Jodie Whittaker's charming performance.

I would recommend Adult Life Skills to fans of Jodie Whitaker and Dr. Who, but there are undoubtedly other films about loss that is easier for you to connect emotionally.

Does a brilliant job capturing that specific moment in time when you're clinging to just a little bit more fun before succumbing to adulthood, without realizing you maybe already have.

The premise of Adult Life Skills isn't remarkable or ground-breaking, but its execution is near impeccable and the result is a film that is quietly poignant, quirkily endearing, and humorous without seeming to try too hard.

But, in the end, Whittaker's and Myers' performances won me over and made up for the difficulty deciphering the thick English accents employed by Tunnard for her characters.

Rachel Tunnard's feature debut, Adult Life Skills, showcases an impressive performance from Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker.
