Soloway teases rather than fully develops several different fascinating ideas in Afternoon Delight and while the flick doesn't ultimately cohere into a wholly satisfying single entity it's still an incredibly compelling experience.
this is a role-swap dramedy, wherein two very different walks of life are brought under the same roof in a social experiment that sees generations gel, classes clash, and sexualities merge... too coarse and cruel to be dismissed as frothy romcom.
Feels rather 'been there, done that' for a movie that keeps (idly, as it turns out) threatening to turn transgressive. Still, by putting utility player Hahn front and center, Soloway earns instant good will.
It's not exactly skyrockets in flight, but you still might want to get yourself some 'Afternoon Delight.' It will curl your toes and straighten your outlook on sex and the married woman in a pleasurable and often erotic way.
