An edge-of-your-seat gory serial killer thriller. A tale of revenge that includes some very disturbing content, not for the faint hearted. But totally spellbinding and with great acting performances. 4/5
a man tries to carry an unnecesarily complicated and unefective act of revenge, as women serve as objects during 2 and a half hours of movie. Every single woman exist as a motivator for both the killer and the good guy, and nothing else. If you are a man who isnt moved by sexual abuse and murder of girls, you might even enjoy how the movie sexualizes them while they die. Predictable ending, plain script, bizarre situations that lead to nothing, and no character development at all. Great direction but with a lot of errors, good acting but cartoonish characters.
História de vingança muito bem filmada e ultra violenta!
They dont shy away from gore in this one- not for the faint of heart. All of the collateral damage makes it hard to completely root for the hero- if youre gonna do this, you better make sure youre staying right on that fuckers tail ALL THE TIME. Also, why didnt he call the family immediately after he went to see the psycho in the hospital? Thats a bit annoying. These are the things I didnt love about this one but still it was a good film. A bit drawn out, but a good story.
This is how you make a revenge film. A great concept done masterfully by amazing actors
One of the best if not the best revenge movie I’ve ever seen.
I loved this movie , even if it did upset me greatly in the beginning. You WILL care about the main characters struggle and whether or not he susceeds. Evil was very well represented in this film , to a horrifying degree. Poetic justice has never been so very sweet. Not a movie for the sensitive, but it's compelling. You'll be so invested in the outcome you won't even notice it's in another language.
Wonderfully directed and shot, 'I Saw The Devil' is an incredibly violent, gory revenge thriller that will certainly get some sort of reaction out of you, one way or another. The action/fight scenes are great with Lee Byung-hun proving he can really pull them off as well as the dramatic side of things. Of course, Choi Min-sik is amazingly convincing in his role, as are the rest the cast, all of whom the film owes a huge debt because it really is the actors and characters here that keep you glued to the screen. As far as the story goes, it starts out well and ends with a realistic message about hatred and violence, but at a running time of almost 2 and a half hours, a very large portion of the time in-between consists of little else other than scene after scene of graphic violence; after a while, it can start to feel a little over-the-top and repetitive. There are also quite a few things that push the boundaries of believability considerably. Nevertheless, for the most part, it's pretty great and entertaining, but certainly not for those with a weak stomach.
This is by far the best serial killer movie I have watched in foreign language. The violence is eminent and the cinematography is brilliant. Korean directors are seasoned and perfectionists in their craft and this movie sets a text book example on how to execute a thriller film. A must watch movie before you die
Terrible- so much unnecessary death that didn't move the storyline ahead. Avoid at all costs.
