Two years after his director's cut, Stone has been given an unprecedented third pass at the movie that's obsessed him for two decades. Go to Full Review

It's long, but it's still more engaging and immersive than the original theatrical cut. Go to Full Review

Like Alexander, Stone seems to have been too ambitious and overextended himself. Go to Full Review

Far superior to the theatrical version. A dazzling epic. Stone should be praised for bringing Alexander to life and finally doing him justice. Go to Full Review

Brandon S. @TheNilechaser Jul 15 This version of Alexander is a masterpiece. See more florent m 06/06/2021 Longer, better, stronger...but surely much better in every way. A clear upgrade from the theatrical cut that restores its grandeur to the movie and the characters it is depicting. The score is still phenomenal as are the cinematography and the sets and costumes. An epic in every sense. See more 02/11/2020 apart from some cringey moments of overacting it is a much needed epic on the most epic of historical figures. Maybe takes too much of a classical view of Alexander as progressive humanist conqueror but that is a much fairer view than the "monster of Macedonia" because he was a king 2,300 years ago that killed people See more 09/03/2018 excellent Movie on the subject however the character of Alexander is definitely more sexual then historical accounts would have people believe of him. See more 11/22/2015 The best version by far See more 01/04/2015 My favorite version of stones epic. Critics bashed the theatrical cut and viewers were left confused by the blonde hair and scots-irish accents. I found the film astounding the sets, characters, and beautiful shots of a world long forgotten. Though I hate Angelina Jolie in the film I just shrug it off. The battle scenes are some of the best in film history. Unlike most films where the battles are just 2 blobs smashing into each other, the battles feature real formations and tactics something I had never before seen in a film. For those who are not historians like myself I recommend a bit of research or listening to the awesome commentary with robin lane fox or Oliver stone, both do a great job of explaining scenes and sequences. To be honest the first time I watched this film in my basement with some friends I hated it hell I shut it off at Babylon, one day I popped in the DVD and watched it alone without being surrounded by idiotic friends who were mocking the film. I loved it , it was one of the best films I've ever seen in my entire life and nothing seems to come close in spectacle. Thank you Oliver stone for another amazing film See more Read all reviews
