Critic Reviews for Alien Saga
Turns out not to be one of those movies that improves in the memory, but actually is better than you remember, mostly because it puts its multitude of imitators to shame.
Scott knew how to create tension, and the movie still has plenty of white-knuckle impact, although it's a little tamer than I remembered.
What you will find is that the old mayhem is still masterful and that there is nothing like the big screen for this type of mortally wounded space exploration.
Whether altered for the sake of incorporating superfluous extra material (cat fight!) or for reasons even less compelling, the editing rhythms here are way off.
The movie inspired three sequels and remains undeniably frightening. It also marks a significant step in the evolution of modern science-fiction films.
It's a most satisfying return to one of the few sci-fi films that deserves to be called a masterpiece.
Audience Reviews for Alien Saga
I finally watched this film to see why this is so manys favorite movie... and honestly i was dissapointed! there were so many long shots of the ship in space that it began to feel like the beginning of 2001 A Space Odyessy....long...silent..and boring.
One of the greatest horror films ever made. The sequel was also one of the greatest horror films ever made. I'd be hard-pressed to not put both in at LEAST my top 25.
i first saw this when i was 9, then i had seen it sophomore year in college and forgot how intense it was. i wrote an essay on it earlier that week about it in my one class and i noticed how the film felt like for a majority of it like it was a horror film, but unlike a horror film it was actually good
