A thriller that ended the possibilities for Morgan Freeman as an unlikely star of a great franchise. [Full review in Spanish]

Man, are you gonna be talking when you come out of this movie! Saying things like 'but why...' and 'if she...' and 'wouldn't he...' and 'how come...' as you try to trace your way back through the twisted logic of the plot.

Sink under the weight of its own preposterousness despite the best efforts of the always-effective Morgan Freeman to stave off disaster.

The final twist is just plain dumb, and neither the performers nor the script's explanation of the characters' motivation have the panache to carry it off.

Obviously under the impression that their audience lacks the common sense of a kiwi, the filmmakers present a 1-2-3 punch of inescapably insipid plot twists.

Strikes out in one direction, then reverses course in a manner that defies all logic.

The plot twists come in the final 30 minutes, and while they are entertaining, they're also ludicrous. One begins to wish the movie had stuck with its original plan of just being a mediocre cop thriller, rather than changing into something quasi-clever.

With the post-Silence glut of serial killer films, it takes a lot to make an impression, and Along Came a Spider lacks that all-important spark.

In movies like this, plot twists can make you gasp, 'Of course!' or they can make you snort, 'Oh, brother!' Patterson, Moss, and Tamahori don't seem to see the difference.

I don't begrudge Freeman his own hero-man franchise, but I wish the movies worked harder to be worthy of him.

Where Kiss the Girls fell apart in the last ten minutes, Along Came a Spider unweaves in the entire third act.

The kind of movie with so many suspension of disbelief high hurdles that any police officer, federal agent or audience member with a stitch of common sense would likely snicker all the way through.

a slick product conceived in the executive conference room of some Hollywood studio, not in the mind of an artist

Se puede ver, pero sin buscarle mayor información o profundidad. Simplemente para pasar el rato.

...does little to enhance the reputation of mystery thrillers in general and little to solidify Freeman's claim to importance as a serious actor.

Is it too much to ask for reasonable explanations of human behavior in a psychological thriller?

There are just too many holes in the plotline of this hollow thriller for it to be convincing.
