Movie Info

This, the third issue in the American Ninja series, stars karate expert David Bradley who goes to Japan for ninja training so he'll be able to avenge his father's murder. Once trained, he enters in an international karate contest held by some no-goods who'd like to get their hands on the world's toughest fella so they can try out a new artificial disease they've created. (They figure the best way to test the disease is upon the toughest guy they can find.) Most action occurs on a Caribbean island.

Audience Reviews for American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt

½

Curtis Jackson (Steve James) is back for another action packed movie, but sadly Michael Dudikoff who played Joe Armstrong in the first two films isn't. Instead, Jackson meets another American Ninja who goes by the name of Sean Davidson (David Bradley) 'The Cobra' (Marjoe Gortner) infects Davidson with a virus, which was experimented on guinea pigs. Curtis "Action" Jackson, Davidson and Dexter (Evan J. Klisser) team up to face The Cobra and his engineered Ninja clones. This film doesn't seem to be as good as the first two films. Steve Jackson seems to have more of a role in this film, but the film is missing Dudikoff. There's two sequels to this film. American Ninja 4: The Annihilation (1990), which does feature Michael Dudikoff. The final film in the collection is American Ninja 5 (1993), which again, doesn't feature Michael Dudikoff. This film doesn't seem to follow the story from the previous four films. Also, catch American Ninja (1985) and American Ninja 2: The Confrontation (1987)

David Bradley is no martial artist. Michael Dudikoff might not have been Bruce Lee reincarnate, but he more than gave it a good, ol' college try. Steve James is back, still playing the sidekick. He is actually far more interesting than Bradley and his presence alone bumps it up another star.

American Ninja 3 was a drop-off in the series and not just because of the lack of Michael Dudikoff. The story doesn't flow as well as the previous two. The fight scenes were ok but nothing great. That being said, this is still a fun movie to watch when watching with the rest of the series.
