jwcdood T @jwcdood 07/01/2024 AMERICAN ANXIETY: INSIDE THE HIDDEN EPIDEMIC OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION explains the situation very well. Problem is that this situation has been going on since the early 80s... And now, we're discussing its actual existence??? Who's foolin' who? Therapy won't fix this. There's nothing wrong except nobody feels valued as a human being and everyone feels taken advantage of like we aren't. Wuttcha seein' actually is wuttcha been gettin' all along (and, here it is, all packaged up in the form of entertainment). So, why stop so soon... See more Anne-Laure M @RT41078239 12/23/2023 A precise, intelligent, respectful and well-documented film on a difficult subject that is increasingly affecting our society, yet which is difficult to talk about: depression (and anxiety). We've all been personnally touched, in one way or another, by depression, but this "modern illness" is still misunderstood. In this 1h30, the causes, consequences, medicinal and therapeutic treatments are explained by professionnals, by patients who have suffered from depression through moving testimonies. This is supported by clear data on the current situation in the United States and its massive acceleration in recent years. Congratulations to the team behind this project, which I hope will be widely accessible for educational and preventive purposes. See more J. H @RT70343520 10/27/2023 "American Anxiety," man, what a trip into the depths of the American psyche! Mark W. Curran takes us on a journey through the labyrinth of the human mind in this captivating documentary. It's a road less traveled, and boy, does it make you think. As I watched it, I couldn't help but be reminded of my own travels, those endless stretches of highway that wind through the American landscape. Just like the open road, this documentary explores uncharted territory, shedding light on a subject that's often kept in the shadows: anxiety and depression. Curran does a masterful job of weaving together interviews with experts, psychiatrists, and real-life patients. It's like sitting down for a conversation with old friends who've been down the rabbit hole and come out the other side. Their stories are raw, real, and unapologetically honest. It's the kind of storytelling that speaks to the heart of what it means to be human. What struck me most about "American Anxiety" is its unflinching commitment to uncovering the truth. We're presented with the stark reality of America's growing mental health crisis, and it's impossible to look away. But this documentary isn't just about highlighting the problem; it's about shedding light on the solutions being forged in the crucible of our collective struggles. In the spirit of the beat generation, "American Anxiety" doesn't shy away from the tough questions. It challenges us to confront our anxieties head-on, to open up dialogues about mental health, and to embrace the idea that there is hope even in the darkest of times. This film, like the great American road trip, is an exploration of the human condition. It reminds us that we're all on this journey together, navigating the twists and turns of life. "American Anxiety" is a beacon of light in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it leaves you with a sense of optimism and a desire to be part of the change. So, my fellow travelers, if you're looking for a thought-provoking and deeply moving documentary that dives into the heart of the American experience, "American Anxiety" is a must-watch. It's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a reminder that, no matter how bumpy the road may be, there's always a way forward. See more Brad P @RT35979882 10/24/2023 I'm glad to see this topic being covered by director Mark Curran. The interview subjects are knowledgeable and the stats supporting the evidence is all there. Technically speaking the doc is solid. One thing that got a little monotonous was the the talking heads (same background, same framing) and quite frankly the structure of the piece. It could've been more engaging. This film isn't a piece of art though, it's a documentary covering a very important and deadly topic. Kuddos to the team!
