Audience Reviews for American East

Apparently a Muslim perspective on the ongoing tensions for them here in America after 9/11. The film did a decent job of trying to capture the sorts of struggles that they must have faced. I think that it went a little over the top at the end, and other issues that the film included seem to take a backseat, and never get resolved. Too bad, because up until that point I was really enjoying it.

A bit formulaic but well acted and presents a point of view not often seen of decent average Arab Americans oppressed by paranoid Americans. You can't help but root for the main character Mustafa by the end of it - even the cold hearted FBI guy seemed to feel guilty of his actions. Worth a look.

[font=Times New Roman][size=3]A sluggish pace bogs down this film on an interesting topic with just motives. As the movie progresses there is no build to the climax. Rather than be gut wrenching it fails to emote most viewers. A cliche ending is unconvincing and while it may be nice is not original at all. What saved the film from a complete collapse was the solid performances in lead roles. A film attempting to educate is successful in this way but can not be seen as a cinematic work of art.
