For every such moment there's a sappy montage or overt visual reference to Rossellini to cheapen the effect.

[A] familiarly snoozy romantic drama.

Though the film plays like late-era Woody Allen - not necessarily a good thing - and Goldberg's rambunctiousness is more annoying than liberating, there's a serious depth of feeling here.

The marital crisis at the movie's heart has lost its allegorical weight. Jane and Leonard are just another unhappy couple with problems that have nothing to do with the direction of Western civilization.

"And While We Were Here" is just good enough to pique your curiosity, but never quite good enough to captivate.

It's to Coiro's credit that no one emerges as a villain - and that, however painful, on the other side lies hope.

Audience Reviews for And While We Were Here

Beautiful scenes, sweet and heartbreaking story, and the perfect ending. The big detractor in this movie was Bosworth and her awful "acting".

Although my rating is average, I found this movie to be entertaining. I did not like the main character. She didn't seem to understand the importance of communication. Then again, a failing marriage can make you an annoyed and annoying human being, so I can kind of see that. Kate Bosworth is a pretty lousy actress in this one ... I don't know what happened because I loved her in Blue Crush ... but she is amazing to look at, and she was impeccably dressed throughout, which counts for something.

The poster looks lame, the storyline sounds cliched, & Kate Bosworth has never been an actress who could draw me towards. But quite surprisingly, this flick turns out to be alright despite its unoriginality, because of the beautiful Naples landscape perhaps. Like every other female-characters in similar feminine texts, the provocative, self-righteous reasons are still so very far-fetched to me. Pity, Men!
