Genevieve Bujold as Antigone -- the French actress in the main role in the classic Greek play by Sophocles, Antigone, does a stunning job in the 1974 PBS "Theater in America" made for TV version. There's something about these older plays, before special effects, where the acting is everything. She does an outstanding job, and somehow blends the rebelliousness of her character with the rebelliousness of the times

Badly dated TV production from the early 70s. Not the original tragedy by Sophocles but a mid century rewrite by Jean Anouilh that positions the original struggle between Antigone and Creon in terms of French existentialism. Well worth watching, if you can disregard the low rent 70s vibe.

Astounding! An excellent performance by Genevieve Bujold (Antigone) and Fritz Weaver (Creon).

An excellent performance from Genevieve Bujold is the highlight of this filmed play but the modern adaptation of the classic story is clunky. Fritz Weaver, Aline MacMahon and James Naughton also are fine but Bujold dominates here.

I have always liked this play by Sophocles. I think it is very well done.

Pretty fricking bad to say the least. I highly recommend not watching it.
