This was the greatest Vietnam movie of its time, and it remains so.

Works both as grand spectacle and affecting human drama.

Those who loved the original Apocalypse Now will find more to admire. Those who found the original self-indulgent and pompous may now find it even more so.

The film is even more imperfect -- and, curiously, still an odd masterpiece.

Has sinew, conviction and the spontaneity of a deck of cards hurled into the air.

The originally released version wasn't broken, but Coppola can fix it as long as he wants, as far as I'm concerned.

Redux doesn't redefine Apocalypse Now -- rather, it adds archival material. But it's terrific to see the film back in theaters.

A masterpiece in every sense of the word and a thought-provoking and deeply unsettling portrait of what lies at the heart of all of us.

This is the one where [Coppola] honors his vision -- or clears his name, whichever way you look at it.
